Thai Basic 103

COURSE: THAI 103

Menu:
Stir-fried Holy Basil with Minced Pork
Isaan-Style Spicy Chicken Soup (Tom Saap)
 Upcycled Rice Biscuit (Khao Tuu)

In this session, we explore three dishes that reflect everyday Thai home cooking, regional influences, and a commitment to sustainability.

We begin with Stir-fried Holy Basil with Minced Pork—one of Thailand’s most beloved comfort foods. While often imitated abroad using Thai basil, true Pad Kraprao relies on the distinct aroma and flavor of holy basil, which is simply irreplaceable. You’ll learn how to master this dish with the protein of your choice: pork, chicken, or beef.

Next, we go beyond Tom Yum and introduce Tom Saap, an Isaan-style spicy soup. Fragrant with toasted rice powder and aromatic herbs, Tom Saap brings a different heat, coming from dried chilies rather than fresh, and finishes with a refreshing lift of lime. It’s light, bold, and deeply satisfying.

Finally, Rice biscuit, AKA “Khao Tuu”, is one of the Thai desserts that showcases zero waste cooking.
